a tribute to elliott smith
navigation:Shortly after his departure, I decided to make this little tribute site for those of us never lucky enough to witness the gifted Elliott Smith performing live.
Concerning the politics of making available such recordings, here’s
Elliott’s own take on bootlegs: I think it’s nice [that]
people want to take the trouble to record music that apparently they seem to
like. I don’t have any problem with that.
And on the free
availability of music on the Internet:
I like the idea ... Sure, people should be able to trade musically with each other; I mean, people do anyway ... there’s arguments to be made ... but I don’t really have an opinion ... I’m not one of those bands that sells millions of records and then gets mad at Napster.
All recordings are sampled at 192 Kbps from the original CD quality bootleg with complete — or as complete as possible — ID3v2 tag information (I use iTunes, myself).
Linking? Please link to the main page. Thank you.
This site is hosted (carbon-neutrally) at Dreamhost. It is hand coded using standard markup and presentation.
I am interested in trading bootlegs, if you’d prefer a copy on CD. I have a few others of lesser quality.
If you like, you may contact me.
